The Accra Regional Police Command says investigations into the building collapse at the Industrial Area that claimed three lives are still ongoing, with several state institutions assisting to determine the cause of the tragedy.
The incident occurred on June 7, 2026, at Avenue, opposite Melcom Plus, where three people died and another sustained serious injuries and is still receiving medical treatment.
According to the Police, technical experts from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), and other relevant agencies have begun detailed structural assessments of the collapsed building and adjoining structures.
The assessments are expected to determine whether the collapse resulted from structural defects or other contributing factors, as well as establish whether nearby buildings are safe for occupation or require demolition.
The Police say decisions regarding the structural integrity of the affected buildings will be made by the appropriate technical and regulatory authorities.
Meanwhile, Moro Badaru, who was arrested in connection with the incident on June 13, 2026, has been granted Police enquiry bail and continues to assist investigators.
The Accra Regional Police Command has assured the public that investigations are progressing and that anyone found to have acted negligently or breached the law will be prosecuted.
The Command is also urging the public to remain calm and avoid speculation while investigations and technical assessments continue.
