The Ghana Police Service has arrested a key suspect in connection with a shooting incident that triggered panic at the busy Adjin Kotoku Onion Market in Accra.
The suspect, Inusah Seidu, aged 40, was picked up on April 8, 2026, during a targeted intelligence-led operation conducted by a special police surveillance team.
Shooting Incident Sparked Market Panic
According to police sources, the disturbance occurred on April 5, 2026, when gunshots were reported at the Adjin Kotoku Onion Market, one of the major trading hubs serving traders and transporters in the area.
The incident created fear among traders and shoppers, forcing many to flee the scene as authorities moved in to restore calm.

Police Track Suspect to Hideout
Following the incident, officers attached to the Special Operations Assistant (SOA) to the Inspector General of Police launched surveillance operations to track down individuals believed to be behind the shooting.
At about 3:00 p.m. on April 8, the team located and arrested the suspect at his hideout within the Adjin Kotoku area.
Police believe the suspect played a role in the shooting and are continuing investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the disturbance.
Manhunt Ongoing for Other Suspects
Authorities say the suspect is currently in custody assisting investigators, while efforts are underway to track down other individuals believed to be connected to the incident.
The Ghana Police Service has assured traders and residents that security operations in the area have been intensified to prevent further disturbances and maintain safety at the market.
Investigations into the case remain ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be put before the court in due course.
