Police in Odumase-Krobo have arrested three suspects after a targeted intelligence-led operation uncovered 105 bundles of suspected counterfeit US dollar notes hidden in a metal trunk.
The arrests followed a raid at a suspected hideout at Laasi, carried out by officers acting on intelligence gathered by the District Crime Officer.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the suspects have been identified as Ebenezer Natsu, 20, George Attor, 48, and Bishop Robert Olertey, 54.

Market Day Plot Uncovered
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly planned to circulate the fake US dollars by exchanging them for Ghanaian cedis during a busy market day, a scheme police believe could have caused significant financial loss to unsuspecting traders and residents.
During the operation, officers discovered the suspected counterfeit currency carefully concealed inside a metal trunk at the hideout.
Alleged Bribery Attempt
Police further revealed that during the arrest, one of the suspects, Bishop Robert Olertey, allegedly attempted to bribe officers with 200,000 cedis in a bid to avoid prosecution.
The officers rejected the offer and proceeded with the arrest, maintaining custody of both the suspects and the recovered exhibits.

Investigations Ongoing
The suspects and the seized bundles of suspected counterfeit notes have been handed over to the Divisional Commander for further investigations.
Authorities say forensic examinations will be conducted on the recovered currency as part of efforts to determine the source and possible network behind the counterfeit operation.
Police have assured the public of their continued vigilance against financial crimes and urged citizens to report suspicious activities that could threaten economic security
