The Ghana Police Service has intensified its fight against human trafficking, engaging executives of the Nigeria Transport Association in Ghana in a high-level stakeholder dialogue aimed at disrupting trafficking networks.

The meeting, led by the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, underscored the pivotal role transport operators play in detecting and reporting suspicious movements. COP Donkor warned that traffickers routinely exploit transport routes to move victims across borders and within the sub-region, urging operators to remain vigilant and proactive.

Deputy Director-General of CID, DCOP Solomon Ayawine Aboninga, sensitized participants on key indicators of human trafficking, while the Director of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, DSP William Ayaregah, called for prompt reporting to enable swift police action.

Responding on behalf of the Association, Deputy Secretary Prince Rotimi Adeye pledged full cooperation, affirming a strengthened partnership with the police to curb trafficking activities and protect vulnerable persons.

The engagement forms part of sustained efforts to build preventive alliances and choke trafficking pipelines at critical transit points.
