Police Restore Calm in Kwame Danso After Violent Mob Attack on Court and Police Station

The Bono East Regional Police Command has restored calm in Kwame Danso in the Sene West District following a violent mob attack on the District Court and the District Police Headquarters on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. while the Kwame Danso District Court was in session. A mob of about 100 youths stormed the court premises, attacking individuals present and vandalising furniture, fans, and other court property. The group forcibly freed two accused persons who were standing trial and also assaulted the complainant in the case.

The same group later moved to the Kwame Danso Police Headquarters, where they attacked two officers on duty and vandalised parts of the station.

A reinforcement team from the Atebubu Division, supported by a detachment from the Formed Police Units (FPUs), was deployed to bring the situation under control.

Following the unrest, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has directed the temporary closure of the Kwame Danso Police Station and the District Police Headquarters. All personnel have since been reassigned to other parts of the region until further notice.

The Police Command has assured the public that all individuals involved in the attack will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted. It emphasized that such criminal acts will not go unpunished and urged residents to support efforts to restore lasting peace and security.
