Police have arrested two members of a robbery syndicate that carried out a coordinated attack on businesses in Nkasiem in the Ahafo Region, including a gold-buying shop and the Asutifi Rural Bank.
According to police sources, the gang, armed with pump-action guns, launched simultaneous operations on December 2, 2025, targeting a gold-buying company and a cocoa-buying firm within the same enclave. They also attempted to break into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank but were unsuccessful.
During the incident, the robbers seized two police rifles. One person sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh and was treated at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem before being discharged.

Law enforcement agencies revealed that intelligence-led operations resulted in the arrest of two suspects soon after the attack. The remaining gang members managed to escape, and a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend them.
In response, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has dispatched a special anti-robbery task force from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to support the Ahafo Regional Command in tracking down the fleeing suspects.
The Police Command has assured residents that every member of the robbery group will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
“We are pursuing the other suspects relentlessly, and they will face the full rigours of the law,” the Command emphasized.
