Two Immigration Officers Shot in Tempane District

Meanwhile, in the Upper East Region, security tension is mounting after two immigration officers were shot by unknown gunmen around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Nagani in the Tempane District.

The officers, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, were rushed to a nearby health facility. Unfortunately, one of the officers later died, while the other remains in critical condition.

Speaking to journalist Atungo Iddrisu Kassim, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Tempane, Joseph Mbilla, confirmed the incident and said investigations have been launched to track down the perpetrators.

According to him, the gunmen seized the officers’ rifles during the attack.

The DCE appealed to residents not to link the shooting to the ongoing Bawku conflict, urging calm as security agencies intensify efforts to maintain peace in the area.

Following the attack, military personnel reportedly invaded the community, searching for the stolen rifles and strengthening security measures to prevent further violence.

The incident has heightened tensions in the district, with calls for improved protection of security officers operating in volatile northern zones.
