The Tarkwa District Magistrate Court, presided over by Charles Owusu, has remanded two accused persons into prison custody in connection with an acid attack at Aboso in the Tarkwa Municipality of the Western Region.

Incident

Preliminary police investigations revealed that in August 2024, at Aboso Mandefine Junction, the first accused allegedly confronted the victim by pushing him from behind, sparking a confrontation.

The accused later returned with Victor Vorgah, 19, who was carrying a polythene bag containing a bottle of a substance suspected to be acid. Vorgah is alleged to have poured the substance on the victim’s face, causing serious harm.

Arrest and Charges

Both suspects were arrested from their hideouts on August 9, 2025, and arraigned before the court on August 14, 2025.

They have been charged with: Abetment of Crime, contrary to Section 20(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and Causing Unlawful Harm, contrary to Section 6 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29)

The court remanded them into prison custody to reappear at a later date.

Manhunt for Third Suspect

Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest another suspect, popularly known as “Black,” who is currently at large.

The Western Central Regional Police Command is urging anyone with credible information on his whereabouts to report to the Aboso Police Station or the nearest police station.
