Newly crowned WBO Africa Bantamweight Champion, Theophilus Kpakpo Allotey, popularly known as Theo Lopez, has set his sights on a world title shot following his emphatic victory over the previously unbeaten Daniel Selasi Gorsh, alias The Emperor, on June 13.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on The Punchline on Omashi TV, the 22-year-old rising star described the bout as “no pressure,” stating that it felt like business as usual thanks to his experience, discipline, and confidence developed through Ghana’s rigorous amateur boxing ranks.

“We just went in to deliver. We’ve learnt a lot from the amateur system and international competitions. The focus, courage, and form were there. We talk and we do— that’s why we are now the new, and still,” Theo said.

Allotey, who is also the National Super Flyweight and UBO Africa Bantamweight Champion, now boasts a perfect record of 11 wins in 11 months as a professional, an extraordinary feat that has catapulted him into serious world title contention.

His coach, renowned national boxing trainer Dr. Ofori Asare, praised Theo’s development and composure in the ring.

“Going through the amateur system makes you resilient and ready. Theo was ready. Gorsh gave us a good fight, but Theo was simply better on the night,” Asare remarked.

Coach Asare also made a passionate appeal for corporate sponsorship, urging businesses in Ghana to invest in young talents like Allotey and the broader boxing ecosystem.

“We’re open to partnerships. Boxing can thrive with the right backing. Big thanks to Amir Khan and Sharaf Mahama of Legacy RISE Sports Promotions for the opportunity, and to our supporters who stood with us in the rain to cheer Theo,” he said.

He further acknowledged the technical support from Coach Akai Nettey of Attoh Quarshie Gym and Coach Elvis Robertson of Akotoku Academy for their ringside assistance.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Gorsh, who entered the ring with a flawless 15-fight record, suffered his first career defeat. Despite the loss, his spirited performance earned him respect from fans, and he vowed to bounce back stronger.

“It was a good fight, and I’ll return better and more focused,” Gorsh assured his supporters.

With continental dominance under his belt, Theo Lopez is now positioning himself for global glory, and Ghana’s boxing faithful are watching closely as the young champion charts his path toward the world stage.
