2 Cars as Gas Tanker Exploded in Kumasi Shoe Factory

A swift response and the professional execution of duty by the personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, has prevented what would have become another deadly gas explosion in Ghana.

At least two cars have been confirmed to have been destroyed in a gas explosion incident at the Kumasi Shoe Factory in Atonsu, Agogo Friday June 17.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11:00am and burnt two cars.

The gas tanker was reportedly discharging liquified petroleum gas into the company’s cylinder when it caught fire.

This caused panic among many workers who rushed out to ascertain what was happening, resulting in the injury of the three victims.

Firefighters managed to douse the flames and contained it from spreading further.

The injured have been sent to the hospital and are responding to treatment as the area has been cordoned off for public safety.
