10 Students Hospitalized as Wa Senior High Technical School Experience 2 Fire Outbreaks in 48 hours

The Wa Senior High Technical School in the Wa Municipality of Upper West Region recorded two fire outbreaks within a space of 48 hours.

The two separate incidents led to 10 students being hospitalized.

Others remained stranded and traumatized due to the havoc caused.

The girl’s dormitory of the Wa Senior High Technical School was engulfed by fire while the students were at preps.

The two-storey dormitory was raised down by the inferno.

Though no casualties were recorded the students lost all their personal belongings including books foodstuffs and uniforms in the fire.

The affected students were immediate relocation to a new place.

Hours after the relocation, the new place also went up in flames again at the time the students were at preps, raising questions as to what might be the cause of the infernos.

Upper West Regional Director of Education, Abdul-Razak Korah, while expressing shock at the rate of the outbreak.

Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, promised to liaise with other stakeholders to get things fixed.

Preliminary investigation into the two infernos according to Ghana National Fire Service point to illegal connections and misuse of pressing iron.
