Newly crowned WBO Africa Bantamweight Champion, Theophilus “Theo Lopez” Allotey, on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to present the title belt he won at the Battle of the Beasts boxing event held at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Friday, June 13, 2025.
Theo Lopez secured a dominant, unanimous decision victory over the previously undefeated Daniel “The Emperor” Gorsh, marking a major milestone in his meteoric rise through the boxing ranks.
Receiving the champion and his coach at the Ministry, Hon. Kofi Adams described the moment as symbolic not just of personal triumph, but of Ghana’s rising stature on the global boxing stage.
“I congratulated Theo on his hard-earned victory and commended his coach for the technical brilliance that guided him to this milestone,” the Minister stated. “Their partnership is a shining example of how talent and discipline, when matched with quality coaching, can produce world-class results.”
The Minister pledged his Ministry’s full support as Theo targets a world title shortly. He revealed plans to mobilise resources and sponsorships, as well as facilitate access to international-level training and camping opportunities to help the boxer reach his next milestone.
“My vision is that within the next three years, Ghana must become a global destination for boxing,” Hon. Adams said. “That future starts with nurturing champions like Theo, investing in preparation, and building a strong technical base.”
The presentation of the belt to the Minister underscored the pride and potential that Theo Lopez now represents for Ghanaian boxing, and signals a renewed commitment by the government to back promising athletes on their journey to global success.
