The Ghana Police Service has announced a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against human trafficking, rescuing 60 victims in operations conducted between 5th and 19th September 2025.
According to the Police, 41 foreign nationals were rescued within Ghana, while 19 Ghanaians trafficked abroad were brought back safely. All rescued persons have since been handed over to the appropriate authorities for reintegration with their families.

Investigations revealed that traffickers are now using new and sophisticated methods to evade detection, including transiting victims through multiple countries before reaching their final destinations. Victims are often lured with promises of lucrative job opportunities abroad but end up in situations of exploitation.

The Police cautioned the public that no legitimate recruitment agency will require individuals to travel by road through several countries as part of an employment process. They urged Ghanaians to always verify the authenticity of job offers abroad before committing themselves.
The statement also reminded the public that it is a criminal offence to lure or recruit others under false pretences, warning that those found culpable will face the full rigours of the law.

Authorities further encouraged survivors, families, and communities to share their experiences and report suspicious activities to help prevent others from falling victim.
“The fight against human trafficking is a collective responsibility,” the Police stressed, adding that vigilance and public cooperation are crucial in breaking the cycle of exploitation.
