Spintex Break-in Busted: Police Arrest Suspect with $22,000 Stolen Cash and Jewellery Haul

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with a house break-in and theft incident at Spintex, leading to the recovery of thousands of dollars and several stolen valuables.

According to police, the arrest followed a complaint by a resident who returned home on March 4, 2026, around 4:00 p.m. to discover that her house had been broken into.

The victim reported that one thousand cedis (¢1,000) and twenty-two thousand, three hundred and fifty dollars ($22,350) in cash, along with several personal belongings, had been stolen from the residence.

Suspect Arrested at Labone Beach

Acting on intelligence, investigators tracked and arrested the suspect, Daniel Odai Afotey, at Labone Beach on March 11, 2026.

A subsequent search of his room uncovered the stolen money and several other items believed to have been taken from victims in similar break-ins.

The recovered items include gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones and a television set, raising suspicions that the suspect may be linked to other theft cases in the area.

Suspect Confesses, Accomplice on the Run

During police interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to committing the crime and mentioned an accomplice identified only as Ewonam, who is currently on the run.

Police say efforts are underway to track down and arrest the fugitive suspect.

Court Appearance and Call to Victims

Investigators say Daniel Odai Afotey will be arraigned before the court on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Meanwhile, police are working to trace the rightful owners of the other recovered items.

They are urging anyone who may have lost property in Spintex, Teshie, Nungua, or surrounding communities to contact the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Headquarters for assistance with identification.
