Robbery Turns Deadly: Police Nab Two Suspects as Okada Attack Unravels in Eastern Region

The Ghana Police Service, through the Eastern Regional Command, has arrested two suspects in connection with a violent robbery that left one alleged accomplice lynched by an angry mob at Sibakon Down near Comet Estate.

The incident occurred on January 18, 2026, when suspects allegedly hired an okada rider from Kwabenya under the pretext of visiting Sibakon Hospital. Police investigations indicate that upon reaching a secluded spot, the rider was attacked with a locally manufactured pistol and a stone. The attackers robbed him of his iPhone 13 Pro and demanded the key to his unregistered Royal motorbike.

The victim’s cries for help, however, attracted residents, leading to the lynching of one of the robbers. The second suspect fled the scene with the stolen phone.

Following weeks of intelligence-led tracking, personnel from the Eastern Regional Police Intelligence Department arrested Kwabla Egblorgbe Gadoglo Mohammed, also known as Moha, aged 31, at his hideout in Afienya on February 13, 2026.

A search at his residence in Abokobi uncovered an alarming cache of suspected weapons and tools, including a cutlass, hammers, scissors, a hacksaw, jack knife, saw, cutter, and three mobile phones.

Further investigations led to the arrest of a second suspect, Kwame Accolor, alias Small Kidi, aged 37, at Anyako in the Volta Region. Police say he bought the stolen iPhone 13 Pro for ¢800, fully aware it was proceeds of a robbery.

Efforts are ongoing to retrieve the locally manufactured pistol used in the attack.

Both suspects have been arraigned before the court. Mohammed, who pleaded guilty to robbery, has had his sentencing deferred to Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

The Eastern Regional Police Command says it remains resolute in intensifying intelligence-led operations to clamp down on violent crime and ensure public safety across the region.
