The Bono Regional Police Command has restored calm in Sampa, in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, following a violent clash between two rival factions, Sammordua and Samgba Gyafla, at the Sampa main market on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Police received a distress call that day reporting intense gunfire between the two groups, which led to the burning of several stores within the market area. A team of police officers was immediately dispatched to the scene to provide security and escort a Ghana National Fire Service tender and an ambulance transporting a pregnant woman to the hospital.

However, the police team came under heavy gunfire from the armed factions. Some officers sustained gunshot wounds, and a police vehicle, with registration number GP 686, veered into a ditch during the exchange.
The injured officers were rushed to the Sampa Government Hospital for treatment. Seven were treated and discharged, while one officer with a head injury was referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for further medical attention.
The Bono Regional Police Command has since intensified patrols in Sampa, restoring calm to the area. Authorities have assured the public that all efforts are being made to apprehend those responsible for the disturbances and bring them to justice.
