Police Launch Investigation into Deadly Shooting in Garu; Four Killed, Five Injured

The Upper East Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into a shooting incident that left four people dead and five others injured in Garu Township on Monday, October 20, 2025.

According to preliminary police reports, four unidentified gunmen riding on two motorbikes opened fire on individuals near the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office in Garu. The attackers reportedly shot indiscriminately, resulting in multiple casualties.

Police officers who responded to the scene retrieved several spent cartridges, which have been sent for forensic examination to aid ongoing investigations.

The bodies of the deceased have since been released to their families for burial, in accordance with local customs, while the injured are receiving medical treatment.

The Upper East Regional Police Command says efforts are underway to track down and arrest the perpetrators to ensure they face justice.
