
The Central Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral video capturing an alleged assault by some police officers on a driver who was reportedly resisting arrest.
The incident, which occurred on 21st July 2025, involved 27-year-old Joshua Arhin, who was driving a Ford Transit bus with registration number GG 1353-25. According to police, the driver had parked the vehicle at an unauthorised location, risking a traffic jam. Despite multiple warnings to move, the driver allegedly refused, prompting officers to arrest him.
During the struggle, the driver is reported to have injured his left ankle. He was issued with a police medical report and taken to the Ajumako District Hospital before being referred to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for further treatment.
The Central Regional Police Command has assured the public that due process will be followed as investigations continue.
In a related development, the Central East Regional Police Command is investigating another viral video circulating online. In the video, an officer is seen instructing members of the public to tie a physically challenged man in a wheelchair to an electric pole. The footage, which emerged on 24th July 2025 around 11 am at Gomoa Budumburam, has drawn widespread concern.
The officer involved has since been withdrawn from duty pending further investigation and possible disciplinary action.
Both Regional Commands have reiterated their commitment to ensuring professional conduct among police personnel and upholding public trust.
