The Oti Regional Police Commander, Alex Acquah, has led a high-level security engagement in Nkwanta following recent deadly violence in the area.

On March 26, 2026, the Commander, accompanied by senior officers, met with police personnel on the ground—urging heightened vigilance, discipline, and professionalism as security operations intensify.

As part of the visit, a joint team comprising the Police, Military, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), and Defence Intelligence moved into the Zongo community, where they engaged traditional authorities.
At the palace of Zongo Chief, Issaka Kayaba, the Commander conveyed condolences on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Management Board, following the killing of three adult male residents in the recent attacks.

In response, the Chief assured the delegation of the community’s commitment to peace, non-retaliation, and coexistence—despite rising tensions.
The security team also visited Dadaga to assess the aftermath of a previous arson attack that claimed two lives, as part of ongoing monitoring efforts.

Authorities say the engagements form part of a broader strategy to restore calm and strengthen trust between communities and security agencies.

The Oti Regional Police Command is urging residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative, while warning against the spread of misinformation and actions that could escalate the situation.
