
The Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency, Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie, has warmly congratulated the three young Ghanaian boxers who won gold medals for the nation at the 2025 African Youth Boxing Championship held in Conakry, Guinea.
The MP received the victorious team Flyweight (51kg) Mathias Ashitey, Bantamweight (54kg), George Dowouna and Middleweight (75kg) Desmond Pappoe, at his office in Parliament House, and hailed their historic performance. He encouraged them to view their triumph as a launchpad to greater opportunities, including the Youth Olympic Games and other international boxing tournaments.

Describing the achievement as a proud moment for the constituency, Hon. Ashie noted that all three gold medalists hail from Ga Mashie. He urged them to become role models and sources of inspiration for other young people in the area.
The MP also acknowledged the outstanding leadership and commitment of Coach Joseph Marte Martey, who led the team to success, and commended the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) for its continued support of youth boxing. He singled out GBF Vice President Alhaji Dauda Fuseni, Treasurer Mustapha Nettey, 2nd Vice President Solomon Otoo, and Head Trainer Charles Quartey for their instrumental roles in grooming the young talents.

Coach Carl Lokko of Bronx Boxing Club, who also accompanied the team, praised the Black Rockets and made a passionate appeal to corporate Ghana to support amateur boxing, stressing that talent in the sport is in abundance.
The Black Rockets, in turn, assured the MP of their unwavering commitment to reach the highest levels of the sport and bring more glory to Ghana.
