President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) Abraham Kotei Neequaye has disclosed that there are many free dates for boxing promoters to organize bouts from now till the end of the year.
Speaking in an exclusive interview he debunked claims that the GBA has hijacked all days Imax Media for the De-luxy Professional Boxing League.
According to him, some dates are very important and are used for national events like March 6, July 1 and December 26.
Explaining, further, he noted that the December 26 date was picked a long time ago when the GBA met President Akufo Addo and about the President’s Belt Bill, leaving;
October 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 30
November 4, 5, 6, 11, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 27
December 2, 3, 4, 9, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25 and 30
Wide open for any promoter to choose from.
Abraham Kotei Neequaye insisted the GBA was not constituted to kill the sport, but rather to improve upon the foundations laid by forbears hence no action would be taken to exclude stakeholders.
He said the Boxing League has raised the bar in promotion, which other promoters must strive to emulate in order to maintain the momentum.
Neequaye Neequaye, said the boxing atmosphere has become very attractive, and the promoters must take advantage and work harder instead of the blame games.
“Our doors are always opened to support promoters. We are here to bring the best out of Ghana Boxing and I believe the boxers, coaches and fans are happy” he stressed.
He hinted that an emergency annual general meeting, AGM, will be held on Wednesday, September 28, urging all the stake holders; Coaches Association, Match Makers Association, Boxing Writers Association, Referees/Judges Association, Promoters Association and Members of the GBA to ensure their attendance to help shape the future.
