Jewellery Heist Cracked: Two Arrested Months After Daring Accra Robbery, Face Court Thursday

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a daring robbery at a jewellery shop near Nyaho Medical Centre at Osu-Oxford Street in Accra.

The suspects, Abubakar Mamoud and Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, were picked up by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters after months of sustained intelligence operations.

The robbery, which occurred on September 11, 2025, saw two armed men on a motorbike storm the shop, assault an attendant, smash a glass door, and make away with assorted jewellery.

After tracking their movements for months, police arrested the suspects on February 24, 2026, at Anyaa in the Greater Accra Region.

A search of their residence uncovered a range of items believed to have been used in the operation, including a hammer, black face mask, toy pistol, gold detector, weighing scale, diamond detector, backpack, gloves, helmet, and two motorbikes.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to the crime and identified a third individual, known as Eddy of Oyanifa, as the receiver of the stolen items. Police say efforts are ongoing to track him down.

Both suspects remain in custody and are expected to be arraigned before the court on Thursday, March 26, 2026.
