The Ghana Police Service has announced the promotion of four officers from the Western Central Regional Command in recognition of their diligence, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to duty.

The promoted officers are:

  • No. 47459 G/Sgt. Fetus Gameli Kukuia – Promoted to Inspector
  • No. 52192 G/Cpl. Christian Asare – Promoted to Sergeant
  • No. 52441 G/Cpl. Nicholas Kingsley Amoah – Promoted to Sergeant
  • No. 59947 G/Const. Adam Yakubu – Promoted to Lance Corporal

Their promotions were approved by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB). The IGP commended the officers and emphasized that the Ghana Police Service remains committed to recognising and rewarding exceptional performance.

The promotion follows a key operation led by these officers on 30th April 2025, just a day after the brutal killing of five people at Asiyaw near Nsawam. The officers intercepted and arrested three suspects — Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab — at the Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The suspects were onboard a Grand Bird Bus (registration number AS 4431 22) en route to Wassa Akropong. A search of the vehicle uncovered a submachine gun (SMG) and 21 rounds of ammunition hidden on suspect Hakeem Imoro. Upon interrogation, Imoro revealed that the weapon had been supplied by Samuel Atsu Forson, alias Alanyo, who was already in police custody in connection with the Asiyaw murders.

Subsequent investigations confirmed the suspects’ direct involvement in the Asiyaw killings and their attempt to escape the region.

The Ghana Police Service has commended the promoted officers for their vigilance, swift response, and professionalism, describing their actions as a critical breakthrough in the ongoing fight against violent crime.

The IGP reaffirmed the Service’s resolve to honour officers who go above and beyond in protecting lives and maintaining public safety.
