The Accra Circuit Court 9 has remanded two persons who were arrested in connection with violent disturbances at the National Youth Organizer and women congress of the National Democratic Congress in December last year into police custody.
Abdul Haild Shaibu also known as Olu and Razak Ibrahim alias Oga pleaded not guilty to two charges of prohibition of vigilante groups and activities.
According to the particulars of offense, the duo on December 10, 2022, armed with offensive weapons ” resorted to the use of violence to further their interests as members of the NDC”.
Counsel for the accused persons pleaded for bail for them explaining that they are security personnel at a Pub in Tamale and hence would show up in court to answer for to the charges.
The court presided over by Samuel Bright Acquah, declined the accused bail on grounds that they may abscond since they are not residents of the jurisdiction.
Samuel Bright Acquah, added that the two accused would also interfere with investigations since the police is also on a manhunt for 14 others.
