Court Orders Police to Release Documents in Alleged Stolen Car Case

The High Court in Accra has ordered the Ghana Police Service to provide former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, with documents linked to a vehicle reportedly stolen and implicated in his ongoing criminal case.

The directive was issued after the trial judge, Justice John Eugene Nyante Nyadu, turned down a separate request from the defence team, which had sought the same documents from the Attorney General’s office.

Deputy Attorney General Dr. Justice Seem-Sai argued that the state does not currently possess the documents, insisting they remain with the accused.

Adu-Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei-Boateng, Mildred Donkor, and a company are on trial over the alleged misappropriation of GH₵49.1 million earmarked for the procurement of cybersecurity defence software.

All accused persons have pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including stealing. The trial continues, with Frank Anane Dekpey, the first prosecution witness, currently testifying.
