On March 29, 2025, Owusu allegedly broke into the residence of a victim at Assin Praso and, at gunpoint, robbed her of GH₵1,950 in cash along with personal belongings. He fled the scene after abandoning a locally manufactured pistol but was later identified and placed on the Police wanted list.

Appearing before the Nsuaem Kyekyewere Circuit Court on October 1, 2025, presided over by His Lordship Justice Emmanuel Amo Ly Yartey, Owusu pleaded guilty to both charges. He was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment for unlawful possession of a firearm and 30 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for robbery. The sentences are to run concurrently.

The convict has since been transferred to the Ankaful Prisons to serve his custodial term.

The Central North Regional Police Command has assured the public of its resolve to pursue armed robbery cases to their logical conclusion and ensure that perpetrators face the full rigours of the law.
