Youth of groups in Pusiga have jointly called on authorities to take steps to ensure that the protracted chieftaincy conflict in Bawku is not extended to the district.
Addressing the media at the chief’s palace in Pusiga, spokesperson for the group, Sumaila Azumah, urged the various tribes in the area to unite in order to ward off any security threat.
On the 25th of February, 2023, Pusiga was engulfed in a gun battle which lasted about 2 hours.
The reasons for the gun battle are still unknown but there are speculations linking the gun battle to a recent killing of a national security operative in the area.
The joint media briefing urged the youth of Pusiga to stay away from acts that would draw the district into the Bawku chieftaincy conflict.
The group also deplored the use of social media targeted at fomenting trouble in the area.
