Last year’s June 3 deadly explosion at the Goil filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra was worsened by the flood situation in the area.

The explosion led to the death of over 150 Ghanaians. In a knee jerk reaction, the Accra Metropolitan Assemble quickly embarked on an exercise to demolish unauthorised filling stations and other properties, especially those on waterways aimed at preventing a recurrence.

But after Monday’s rains this filling station at Abossey Okai remains flooded. Imagine the state of this filling station when it was raining.
