
The Accra Regional Police Command has announced detailed security arrangements for the planned public demonstration by some political parties scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2025.
According to the Police, the demonstration will commence at 7:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m., following a designated route approved by authorities. The route includes:
Starting Point: Park opposite the Supreme Court
Then through: MOFA Traffic Light – In front of the High Court Complex – Ministries Police Station – Stadium Traffic Light – Osu Cemetery – Parliament House – Liberation Road Roundabout – Ring Road Central – Ending at: Christ the King.
To ensure public safety and maintain law and order, police personnel will be stationed along the entire route. Officers will also be present at key intersections and traffic hotspots to facilitate crowd control, manage vehicle movement, and assist road users.
As part of traffic management, temporary road diversions will be in place along the demonstration route. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly, use alternative roads, and follow instructions from police personnel to avoid congestion and delays.
The Police further urge all demonstrators to conduct themselves lawfully and to fully cooperate with security officers throughout the event. Organizers are reminded to adhere strictly to the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491) and honour their commitment to a peaceful and non-violent protest.
The Accra Regional Police Command reaffirms its dedication to ensuring public safety while respecting citizens’ constitutional rights to peaceful assembly.
