The youth have been urged to venture into the agriculture value chain to help reduce unemployment and improve the country’s economy.
The call was made by some 2022 best female farmers at a capacity building in Koforidua in the eastern region.
The 20 national top women farmers were selected across the country and trained to improve their agricultural value chain operations.
It formed part of the award packages given to the women during the 2022 farmers day awards.
The training was jointly organised by feed the future policy link activity, funded by UASAID and the ministry of food and agriculture with assistance from mobilizing finance in agriculture and ABSA bank Ghana.
The training focused on helping women’s businesses grow through access to credit as well as a study tour of successful farms to learn best practices.
This was in keeping with the theme for the 2022 farmers day, “accelerating agriculture development through value addition.

A deputy minister of agriculture, yaw addo frimpong, lamented the low capacity of women in agriculture even though they formed a chunk of the workforce.
A 2022 national best female farmers, Naa Adjeley, urged the youth to take advantage of the numerous opportunities in the sector.
The 2022 eastern regional best female farmer, Ernestina Osei-Tutu, envisaged a better future from the training.
