The national disaster management organization, NADMO, has so far registered a total of 2,275 Burkinabe in four out of the seven electoral areas being occupied by the asylum seekers from Burkina Faso in the Bawku West district.
The Burkinabe’s have fled conflicts in their country which continue to claim lives.
Seven out of the 34 electoral areas in the Bawku west district are currently hosting the displaced people from Burkina Faso.
The asylum seekers have taken over churches and school in these communities in addicting to individual homes.
Ayaaba Abugri Moses is one of the hosts for the asylum seekers at soogo.
He has been accommodating 57 asylum seekers since Friday January 13, and now feel distressed.
The sub-chief for Soogo, Akaami Joshua, has called for immediate intervention.
Meanwhile, the screening and registration of the displaced people is vigorously being carried out by the national disaster management organization, NADMO, in the affected electoral areas.
They have so far registered 1, 287 people at Widnaba, Soogo electoral area, 631, Kansoogo, 237 and Tilli electoral area 29.
The screening and registration are also underway in the Sapeliga, Komaka, and Zebilla central electoral areas.
