Fire Officer Broke Arms and Legs after Falling from a 3-Storey Building

The fire officer got injured while fighting fire in a three-storey building housing Rana Motors on the Graphic Road in Accra.

The officer reportedly jumped from the third floor of the building to the ground resulting in him breaking his hands and legs, according to the Ghana national fire service.

He was rushed to the Korle-Bu teaching hospital where he is reportedly responding to receiving treatment.

The Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana National Fire Service, Timothy Osafo Affum confirmed the incident on Onua Maakye on Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

Timothy Osafo Affum explained that portions of the building collapsed while the firefighting was ongoing.

He said the fire officer whose name he would not disclosed for professional reasons, jumped from the third floor as a result of the collapse incident onto the ground.

Timothy Osafo Affum said in the process, he broke his legs and hands but he is receiving treatment at the Korle-Bu Hospital, thankfully he emphasized.

The 3-storey building was razed down by the Tuesday night fire, which begun around 10pm.

The cause of the fire outbreak is not immediately known.
