Inaki Williams Discloses Why he Chose to Play For Ghana Over Spain

Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams ,who plays his club football for Spanish based Athletic Bilbao, has disclosed that his family played a major role in his nationality switch from Spain to Ghana. His decision was not merely because the Ghana National Team has secured a world cup qualification.

Williams revealed that it is his grandfather’s dream to see him feature for the black stars. The 90 year- old man would love to see his grandson play in the world cup.

 “It is a decision I have taken with my heart, regardless of what people may think or say- that maybe I am only playing for Ghana because they have qualified for the world cup.”

It wasn’t an easy decision to make. I had to consult with my family and loved ones, because this decision will impact me during the next years of my career-not only in sporting terms but also on a personal level, because it is much more than football. “ he added.

The Athletic Bilboa forward hopes to bring his seniority to make an impact in the Black Stars as he has played almost 9 seasons at 1st Division level before joining the Spanish La Liga.
