Effective Monday September 19, 2022 Ghanaians are to cough extra cedis for Sachet and Packaged water. This is because the National Association of Sachet and Packaged water Producers (Naspawap) have decided to review prices.
The National Executive Committee of (Naspawap) in consultation with stakeholders wishes to recommend the price reviews of bottled and sachet water.
These reviews serve as a guide to all regional associations and to ensure uniformity across the country.
The NEC also cautions that there might be slight variations across regions due to haulage to remote and distant areas.
A release signed by the Director of corporate affairs of the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers blamed their action on the recent hike in the electricity and water tariffs and other factors.
The association say the cedi, which was 8.5 to the dollar at their previous review in March this year, has gone up to 10 cedis while fuel prices have have also gone up from nine cedis in march to 14 cedis, 50 pesewas representing 61 per cent increase.
The association therefore recommended sachet and bottled water prices as follows;
It is recommended that ice bottled water 500ml be retailed at two cedis, while iced bottled water, 750ml popularly called medium size will be retailed at three cedis
Iced sachet water will now be retailed at 50 pesewas from the previous 30 pesewas.
A bag of 500ml sachet water, containing 30 pieces, will now sell at seven cedis from the retail trucks, while Mini shops will now retail the same bag at nine cedis.
NASPAWAP say t he suggested adjustment is to help producers cover their production costs.
