Evelyn Badu to Miss World Cup Opener Against USA

Black Princesses captain Evelyn Badu will miss the Group D women’s world cup opener match against the USA. This is because she sustained an ankle injury just on the eve of the match.

This was released in a statement from the Ghana Football Association, “Captain of the Black Princesses, Evelyn Badu may miss the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after sustaining an ankle injury in the team’s training in Costa Rica ahead of the Group D opener against USA on Thursday,” 

Evelyn Badu (born 11 September 2003) is a Ghanaian footballer who plays as a midfielder for the Norwegian club Avaldsnes IL and the Ghana women’s national team.

Also, she was part of the Ghana squad that competed in the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, but she did not play any matches. However, she capped at the senior level during the 2020 CAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament (third round). Evelyn will be replaced by central defender and Number 5 Susan Duah, who will captain the Ghanaian side this evening.
