The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into allegations against a Chief Inspector stationed in the region over the alleged ownership of unauthorised wooden structures at Asafo BB in Kumasi.

The officer is alleged to have rented out the structures to commercial sex workers operating in the area.
In a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, the Command said it was treating the allegations with the seriousness they deserve.

“The Command takes the allegations seriously and wishes to assure the public that further developments following the investigations will be communicated,” the statement said.
The Police did not disclose the identity of the officer or provide additional details about the allegations, citing the ongoing investigation.

The Command assured the public that a thorough inquiry is underway and pledged to provide updates as investigations progress.
No charges have been filed at this stage, and the officer has not been found liable. The allegations remain under investigation.
