Escaped Suspect Inmates: Police Debunk Claims Linking Escapees to High-Profile Murder Case
The Ghana Police Service has strongly dismissed claims circulating in sections of the media suggesting that some inmates who recently escaped from custody are connected to the murder case involving the father-in-law of Sammy Gyamfi.
According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the reports are false and misleading.

A release signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Regional Command, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, clarified that the escapees were never detained at the Adabraka District Police Station in connection with that murder case and have no links to the incident.
Police say swift action has already led to the re-arrest of three out of the six inmates who escaped from custody on April 26, 2026.
A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the remaining three suspects.

Meanwhile, the Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape, as part of efforts to prevent future incidents.
The Police have assured the public of their continued commitment to maintaining law and order and are urging anyone with credible information on the whereabouts of the remaining escapees to report to the nearest police station.
