Two people have lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries in a fatal road traffic accident at Akyem-Akooko, along the Accra–Apedwa stretch of the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region.
The tragic crash, which occurred on Saturday, February 14, involved a Kia truck and a Toyota Voxy vehicle. Preliminary reports indicate that the impact was severe, killing one man and one woman on the spot.

Victims Rushed for Treatment
Six other passengers suffered varying degrees of injuries and were swiftly transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for urgent medical care.
Emergency responders moved in quickly to manage the scene, assist victims, and clear the highway to restore traffic flow, which was temporarily disrupted.

Investigations Underway
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Confirming the incident, the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for Abuakwa South, Ofori Aikins, stated that the Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.

The accident adds to growing concerns over road safety on one of Ghana’s busiest highways, often plagued by high speeds and heavy vehicular traffic.
