The Kotobabi District Police Command has arrested two suspected street robbers following an intelligence-led patrol operation at Dzorwulu in Accra.
The arrest occurred on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, when a police patrol team on a service motorbike encountered two suspicious persons riding an unregistered black Royal 125 motorbike.

The suspects have been identified as Stephen Gletsu, 37, who was riding the motorbike, and Mohammed Sheriff, 20, the pillion rider. Both suspects were dressed in all-black attire with black helmets, while the pillion rider was observed wielding a cutlass.
Upon spotting the police, the suspects attempted to flee, prompting a chase. Warning shots were fired, causing them to lose control of the motorbike and fall near Roman Ridge, close to the Nigerian High Commission. The suspects attempted to escape on foot but were traced and arrested by the patrol team.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of several items, including:
- One Infinix mobile phone
- One iPhone 12 Pro
- One Samsung A21
- One iPhone 15 Pro
- One iPhone 13
- One Infinix X6528 phone
- One Infinix feature phone
- One itel feature phone
- One Nokia feature phone
- A necklace
- Cash amounting to ¢2,690.00 and USD 2
The suspects sustained varying degrees of injuries during the arrest and were treated and discharged from the Police Hospital.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to committing the robberies and confessed to attacking several unsuspecting victims within the Accra Metropolis. Statements have since been obtained from victims who identified both the suspects and their stolen mobile phones.
Further investigations have led to the arrest of four additional accomplices, who are currently assisting police with investigations.
The suspects have been remanded into police custody and are expected to reappear before court on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
The Accra Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating street robbery and other criminal activities across the metropolis.
