The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the successful conviction and sentencing of three armed robbery suspects involved in a daytime attack in Boubai, located within the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The robbery took place on July 1, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Suspects Mamudu Issah (18), Samuel Takyi (18), and Alhassan Abubakari (18), along with three other accomplices who remain at large, carried out the attack riding on two unregistered motorbikes and wielding machetes. They robbed several residents of mobile phones, bags, and cash.
Thanks to the swift response and vigilance of community volunteers, the three suspects were traced to a hideout in Aboabo later that day. The volunteers apprehended the suspects and handed them over to police, along with ten recovered mobile phones and three bags believed to be stolen.
On July 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the accused were arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi. All three pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and seven counts of robbery. Additionally, Mamudu Issah pleaded guilty to an extra charge of causing harm.
The court sentenced them as follows:
Mamudu Issah: Ten years’ imprisonment on each of the robbery-related charges and three years for causing harm to run concurrently.
Samuel Takyi and Alhassan Abubakari: Ten years’ imprisonment each on the robbery-related charges to run concurrently.
The convicts were immediately processed and transferred to the Central Prisons in Kumasi to begin serving their respective terms.
The Regional Police Command expresses its appreciation to members of the public, particularly the community volunteers, for their swift response and cooperation in this operation. The command further encourage the public to support policing efforts and promptly report suspicious activities.
