The Oti Regional Police Command has dealt a major blow to suspected drug trafficking operations after intercepting a long trailer truck ingeniously modified with hidden compartments to conceal narcotics.

Acting on intelligence on 10 February 2026, police officers at Dambai stopped and searched a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09. Although the vehicle initially appeared empty, a thorough inspection revealed that it had been specially modified with six metal plates, sealing off secret compartments beneath the trailer.

In the presence of the suspect, Amidu Jubril, aged 40, officers forced open the concealed compartments. Inside, police uncovered four thousand (4,000) parcels of compressed dried leaf substances, neatly wrapped in yellow masking tape and suspected to be narcotics.
The discovery exposed a sophisticated attempt to evade law enforcement by concealing large quantities of suspected drugs within the structural frame of the vehicle.

The truck has since been impounded, and all recovered exhibits have been secured for evidential purposes. The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting investigators as efforts continue to trace the source, network, and intended destination of the suspected narcotics.

The Oti Regional Police Command has reiterated its firm commitment to combating drug trafficking and related crimes, assuring the public that intelligence-led operations will continue to protect communities and disrupt organised criminal networks.
