The Western Regional Police Command is on a manhunt for four armed robbers following an attempted robbery at a gold buying shop in Telebu Bokazo on July 30, 2025.

At about 5:30 pm, police in Esiama responded to a distress call reporting that a group of robbers armed with AK-47 rifles and machetes had attacked the shop. A police patrol team rushed to the scene and learned the suspects, about six in number, had fled toward the Salman community.

Police pursued the robbers, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the operation, one suspect, identified as 34-year-old Abdul Rahman, sustained severe injuries. Before he was rushed to St Martin De Porres Hospital at Ekwie, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, he named Mohammed and other accomplices as members of the gang.

On-the-spot investigations revealed the robbers had stormed the shop, shot one of the attendants, and inflicted machete wounds on another. Police later visited St Martin De Porres Hospital and found victims Samuel Appiah, 29, receiving treatment for machete wounds to his right thigh, and Kwamena Nketiah, 45, who had sustained gunshot injuries to the thighs.

Acting on intelligence on August 1, 2025, police arrested Mohammed Adamu, 25, who had been named by the deceased suspect. He is currently in custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.

A search of the area where the robbers fled uncovered seven spent AK-47 cartridges, two BB cartridges with a spent shell, an empty case of 88 cartridges, and two motor ignition keys.

The Western Regional Police Command assures the public that active efforts are underway to track down the remaining suspects and bring them to justice. Anyone with relevant information is urged to assist police investigations.
