A High Court in Wa has sentenced Shariff Abdulai, popularly known as Cristos, to life imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the murder of Issah Yahaya and twenty-two (22) other people across several communities in northern Ghana.
The conviction was secured on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, after the accused admitted, without qualification, to killing sixteen people in Wa, five in Bole, and one each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi.

His plea followed months of sustained, intelligence-led police investigations that led to his arrest on October 6, 2025.
Upon committal from the District Magistrate Court, the accused was formally arraigned before the High Court, represented by counsel, and entered a guilty plea.
Presiding judge Justice Osei-Wusu Antwi subsequently handed down a life sentence with hard labour.
Shariff Abdulai is to serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
The Police Command has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the rule of law, stressing that it will continue to pursue and prosecute violent offenders to ensure safety and security for law-abiding citizens.
