According to Jon Benjamin, his country will be happy to offer any contribution that will ensure violence-free elections.
Mr Benjamin made this known on Tuesday, March 1 when he met leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at the national headquarters in Accra.
“The elections are internal affair and sovereign affair of Ghana but if we can make any contribution including through football to ensuring a peaceful environment up to and through the elections, we are very happy and honored to do so,” he told journalists.
The UK envoy was at the Football House at the invitation of the football-governing body in the country to thrash out differences which escalated in public exchanges last year.
The President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, made it clear to reporters that peace has been brokered.
“We like him. He shares his views with us. He is very objective and he is not the type that refrains from sharing his opinions on topical issues in public. WE are building on this relationship to improve on the level of the game in Ghana.”
