The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has deployed reinforcement teams, including armoured vehicles, to Nalerigu and surrounding communities in the North East Region following the burning of two houses by some youth in the regional capital and threats of further attacks on residents and property.
The deployment is aimed at restoring calm, protecting lives and property, and strengthening security in the affected areas, as well as ensuring strict enforcement of the curfew imposed by the government on Nalerigu and its environs.
In addition, the reinforcement teams will support the North East Regional Police Command to intensify security patrols along major highways to guarantee the safety of commuters.
The Police have assured the general public, and residents of Nalerigu in particular, that investigations into the attacks and arson are ongoing, and that all individuals involved will be arrested and brought to justice.
