Police Investigate Assaults During Ablekuma North Parliamentary Re-run

The Accra Regional Police Command has provided an update on the violent incidents and assaults reported during the Ablekuma North Parliamentary re-run held on Friday, 11th July 2025.

Police officials have reviewed and are currently analysing multiple video recordings from polling stations to identify all individuals involved in the disturbances. Statements have also been obtained from complainants and witnesses to support ongoing investigations.

The Command reports that several vital leads have been gathered and assures the public that arrests will be made soon. Victims of the incidents have been issued Police Medical Report Forms for medical assessment and care.

As part of the investigation, the Police Officer captured in one of the videos assaulting a journalist has been interdicted and is now facing criminal charges for assault.

The Accra Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that anyone found responsible for acts of violence, intimidation, or misconduct during the elections will face the full rigours of the law.

The Command also appeals to the public to support ongoing efforts by sharing credible information and cooperating with police investigations. Members of the public can reach the Police through emergency numbers 18555 or 191.
