The Kaneshie Divisional Police Command has arrested two suspects for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition following a patrol operation at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
The suspects, identified as Kwame Boahen, 35, a pillion rider, and Fatau Alhassan, 52, an okada rider, were arrested on Saturday, December 20, 2025. They were riding a Royal motorbike with a faded number plate when police intercepted them.

According to the police, the arrest followed an earlier incident on Friday, December 19, 2025, when a patrol team spotted the same motorbike at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and attempted to stop it for a routine check. Upon noticing the police, the suspects abandoned the motorbike and attempted to flee, but were arrested after a brief chase, despite resisting arrest.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of one pistol bearing serial number 39363 with the inscription “CS HEAND SUH,” seventy-two (72) rounds of ammunition, one iPhone, one LG smartphone, one Blackberry phone, one keypad mobile phone, and two wristwatches.

The suspects have been cautioned and are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. The retrieved items have been retained as exhibits, while police say efforts are underway to trace the owners of the recovered mobile phones and establish the source of the firearm and ammunition.
The statement, signed by Head of Public Affairs of the Accra Regional Police Command, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, appealed to the public to continue supporting police efforts by providing credible information to help combat crime and enhance public safety.
