
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at Nsawam-Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region.
The suspect, Abdul Rauf Salami, a resident of Adoagyiri Zongo, was arrested on Friday, 23rd May 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m. during a targeted police operation. The operation focused on securing all entry and exit points of Adoagyiri in response to recent disturbances that have unsettled the community.
Police retrieved a number of dangerous items from the suspect, including:
- Two pump-action shotguns
- 64 rounds of AA ammunition
- An ammunition vest
- A machete and a knife

Abdul Rauf Salami is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. He is expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.
In a statement, the police assured residents that firm measures are in place to restore and maintain peace in the area.
‘We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of the Adoagyiri township’, the statement said.
The police administration have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
They assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
