The National Democratic Congress, NDC has cancelled the election for new executives in the Ashiaman Constituency as a result of a number of issues, including a lack of printed ballots overall.

In expectation of electing new executives, some 3,000 delegates arrived at the Agyiri Nyarko school complex in Jericho as early as 6 am. However, the activity was abandoned after many hours of waiting.

As the delegates pressed for the election to be postponed, there were protests earlier in the constituency against the postponement.

As of 12:44 p.m., the ballots had still not arrived at the voting location.

The delegates indicated that it would be difficult for the over 3000 delegates to vote considering that there is no lighting system to illuminate the area when it is time to tally the ballots well into the night. The delegates said that this would make voting difficult.

Meanwhile, the election has been postponed to 7:00 am on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
