Misconduct: Kusanaba Senior High Students Vacate School Premises after Midnight Rampaging

Students of the Kusanaba senior high school in the Kawku west district of the upper east region went rampage Wednesday night destroying various school properties, and stolen 20 laptop computers.

The student’s rowdiness followed days of agitation over poor quality of food and an alleged bad management practice

Properties destroyed including desktop computers, school bus, a teacher’s private car, electrical gadgets, motorbikes among others.

The students were also said to have attempted to set the school ablaze after 20 laptop computers have gone missing.

The student agitation reportedly begun on Tuesday December 5.

The student reportedly embarked on a dawn demonstration over what they termed poor quality and inadequate quantity of food being served at the dining hall.

The boarding students later in the day attempted to prevent the day students from taking part in academic activities.

It took the intervention of the chief of the town, the police commander and the Zebilla district chief executive to bring the agitating students under control.

But contrary to the agreement reached on Tuesday, the return would return with more violent action around midnight Wednesday December 8.

They reportedly began stone throwing during which a number of school property and personal belongings were destroyed.

A police re-enforcement was called in to restore order.

The situation led to most of the students vacating the school on Thursday December 9.

The headmaster of the school has also left the school for fear for his life.

The District Chief Executive for Bawku West, Issahaku Tahiru Ahmed, expressed disappointment of the conduct of the student, wondering what they want to be in the future.

He however called on those boarding students who have left the school premises to return in order to continue with their academic activities.
